Friesian horses and horses of Friesian Heritage will not be judged in the Sport Horse Breeding Suitability Division.  We would like to thank you for offering us this opportunity.

Inspection: Horses will be judged by a USEF certified judges. Horses will be presented on the triangle, then run at liberty. The horse will enter the arena and stand for the over all conformation inspection. Then they are walked and trotted on the triangle pattern marked by cones. With the judge’s permission, they are released at liberty to judge the canter and reassess the trot.  Horses will be judged to a Sport Horse standard .  For horses that qualify, first, second and third place Premiums are given. Ster performance testing under saddle is available additional $50.00 charge. Prior arrangements must be made. Ster performance testing requires the horse to perform movements equivalent to USDF Training Level Test Four. After you have ridden horse a  foreign rider also rides the horse for this test.

Brood mares may be presented and the fact that she is a brood mare will be taken into consideration by the judge.

Attire for the horse: You may want to bath and groom your horse prior to the inspection, to show him in his best condition. You may braid the mane and clip a bridle path, but braiding and clipping are not required.  These requirement are different for different registries, please be sure to check your registries requirements.  Horses do not have to have shoes. Any type or color of halter is permissible. It is a good idea, however, to stay away from bright colors and stay with the tones of the horses base color. No western show halters. Foals, yearlings and two year olds will have to be brought into the arena with a halter. Horses over three years of age and older must be shown in a bridle with a snaffle bit. Injuries and scars are not considered in the inspection as long as it does not interfere with the horse’s movement, contours or health of the horse. A horses training is not judged, but you must be able to get the horse to stand long enough for the conformation to be judged and move at walk trot and canter. Young foals may be released at judges request to perform the rest of the inspection.

Runner/Handler: You may show your own horse or may want to hire a runner/handler, if available.  White or tan colored pants and a white shirt are usually inspection standards. However, if you happen to have a light colored horse you may wish to show your horse in dark colored clothing. Please keep in mind that the idea is for the judge to see the outline of the horse, not your brightly colored clothing. Solid clothing is preferred: white or tan and black or dark blue. Please wear shoes suitable for running. If you do not feel comfortable showing your own horse we will try to make a runner/handler available. You will be responsible for independently contacting these people prior to the start of the inspection and making arrangements with them. We make no guaranties as to the credentials of these individuals. They may be younger adults that have little prior show experience, but are younger and more capable of keeping up with the gaits of the horses. The fee for the runner/handler is approximately $30.00 or less per horse, depending on the individuals experience.

Facility: Stalls are available on a limited basis.

Mico-Chipping: Microchips are not required for Sport Horse Breeder Suitability Division Horses. If your horse is mirco-chipped it can be scanned and recorded.

Parent Verification DNA Testing: Gathering of DNA hair samples will also be made available at the inspection site. It is not required by all of the registries at this time, but it is being implemented in the near future in some of the registries. You may wish to take advantage of collecting the DNA at this inspection, so it may be added to your final papers.

Late Registration for Inspection:
Deadline for the Inspection is 60 days prior to the inspection date. Late sign up for the inspection will be accepted, providing there is space available. If you are registering late for the Inspection the price will be $150.00 and a $50.00 late fee. So the total cost for late sign up for the inspection is $200.00.
